Tips and agreements
We wish you a pleasant stay on the Petrus Wittebrood farm in 'Het Zuiderhuis' or 'De Waterput'. We hope you will have many wonderful and even onforgettable moments here, enjoying the peace and the open space.
To ensure you of a pleasant stay, we ask you to observe the following agreements and tips. If you have any more questions about this, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Locking up the house
- The doors and windows are to be locked whenever you leave the domain.
- You can lock the door (handle turned upwards, then turn the key) with the key ring that also operates the electricity.
- All lamps/electrical appliances (except for the fridge) are turned off 1 minute after you remove the key ring from the holder.
- Upon your return replace the key ring in the holder and you will dispose of electricity again.
- Please lock the door at night. Afterwards, put the key ring back in the holder.
Cars
- There are two parking spaces to the left and right of the main entrance gate to the farm. Your car is parked safely here, away from the street. Please use this car park if possible to avoid any inconvenience on the street.
- Please limit yourself to a maximum of 2 cars.
Conditions of payment and deposit
- Upon reservation you pay 25% of the total amount for your stay + 100 EUR deposit
- Not later than 3 weeks before your arrival, you pay the balance of 75%
- The deposit sum will be returned to you at the end of your stay, if the final check-up of the accommodation reveals it is clean and there are no damages
- If you cancel your reservation, the deposit will be returned to you. The advance payment (25% until 3 weeks before your stay, 100% if less than 3 weeks before your stay) remains acquired as a cancellation recompense for the proprietors
Visitors
- Visits should be limited. It is not allowed to let visitors spend the night
- Visitors are requested to leave the premises no later than 11 pm
Contact with proprietors (Geert and Trui)
- Trui and Geert are always happy to help and assist if you need information or if there is any problem
- To get in touch with them, please ring the intercom at the main entrance (by the street)
Domain
- The courtyard of the farm and the cottage garden beyond the white-green gate (where the bake-house and the garden wall are) are private and not accessible
- There is a signposted walking trail in the domain indicated wit red arrows. Please follow this trail and stay on the paths
- Special caution is called for at the pond and the brook. The banks are boggy and may crumble here and there; children should be accompanied by there parents
- Every gate that is opened, should be closed again immediately. Part of the domain is grazing territory for the farmer's cows.
Animals
- Please do not feed the donkeys, the pony or the sheep, it is not good for their health
- You may try to lure them with an old (not mouldy!) slice of bread though
- Please do not let the cats into the house, no matter how sweetly and slyly they try to persuade you
Bicycles
- You can bring your own bicycles, there is a roofed bicycle shed
- There is an outstanding tandem for hire (Sparta Twixion, 21 speeds) for 20 euro/day
- There are bikes for hire at the tourist service of Gavere or at "The Wheelpalace "
Noise
- Please do not use a radio outside. Your holiday home is in the Munkbosbeek valley, where sounds are amplified easily
- Please respect the silence after 11 pm and before 9 am (indoors and outside, the other accommodation adjoins yours)
Wood fire (only for 'Het Zuiderhuis') and barbecue
- To stoke up the fire, please use only the wood that we provide free of charge (it is dry, good quality wood). Please ask Trui for it
- After using the fire, you are requested to remove the ashes before your departure
- The doors of the fireplace are to remain closed at all times
- A barbecue (Barbecook style) is at your disposal
- Your are requested to provide the charcoal yourselves
- Please make sure the barbecue and all materials are cleaned thoroughly after use
Jeu de boules, playground and terraces
- There is a (double) jeu de boules lane, which may be used by the guests in both accommodations
- The patch of grass by the jeu de boules lane is meant for playing and is also available to both accommodations
- There is a terrace by each accommodation; please respect the privacy of the other guests and don't go on the other terrace
Smoking
- Smoking is not allowed inside, as this will harm the quality of the living evironment permanently. In case, the deposit will always be withheld.
- On the terraces and in the garden smoking is allowed. Please use an ashtray to avoid ashes and butts dropping on the floor
Cleaning
- At the very least the accommodation should be tidied, the dishes washed and the fridge emptied
- The rest of the cleaning is taken care of by the proprietors for the sum of 50 EUR
- You can also do the final cleaning yourselves, in which case you needn't pay the 50 EUR. We then expect you to hoover every room (vacuum cleaner at your disposal), to clean the washstands, the shower or bath, the kitchen sink, the microwave, the cooker, the fridge and the windows with fingerprints, and to dust the furniture. The toilet and bathroom should be mopped
Heating
- To allow you to heat every room as you wish, the heating is NOT operated with a thermostat
- You can regulate the heating per room with the thermostatic valve on the radiator (between 1 = minimum and 5 = maximum)
- We count on it that you turn the heating on 1 when you open doors or windows
- If you leave the premises for several hours, please adjust the heating accordingly
- Between 11 pm and 7 am the heating is turned off (except if the weather is very cold). If you would like the heating to be on outside these times, please let Trui know
Household refuse
- Refuse is to be sorted in: general refuse (including leftovers), paper and cardboard, plastic bottles and tins, glass
- In the shed by the cobbled square you will find rubbish bins where you can dispose of the sorted refuse
